Privacy Policy — Tara
Last updated: 10 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Imaara Survivor Support Foundation ("we", "us", "our", "Imaara") collects, uses, stores, and protects information through the Tara web application (tara.imaara.in) and the Tara Android application (together, the "App" or "Service").
By registering for or using Tara, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide at registration
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Address
- GST / PAN details (for organisations/entities, where applicable)
1.2 Documents you upload after registration
- Signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) — sent to you by our team via email and uploaded back into the App
- Licence documents and other supporting/verification documents
1.3 Device and app permissions
- Camera / Photos: to capture or upload photographs and scanned copies of documents (e.g. MOU, licences)
- Location: to record or verify your registered address/service location
Photo and Video Permissions Declaration
Tara only requires one-time or infrequent access to photos and media files when a user chooses to upload a photograph or scanned copy of a document, such as an MOU, licence, or verification document.
The app does not require persistent or broad access to the user's photos or videos. Users select the specific media files they wish to upload through the Android Photo Picker, and Tara accesses only the media selected by the user for the relevant feature.
The Android Photo Picker provides sufficient functionality for Tara's core use cases, so broad access to the user's photo and video library is not required.
1.4 Automatically collected information
- Log data such as IP address, device type, operating system, and app version, collected for security and troubleshooting purposes
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To prepare, send, and execute the MOU with you
- To verify your identity, licence, and eligibility to operate as a registered partner/user on Tara
- To communicate with you about your registration, MOU status, or document verification
- To comply with legal, regulatory, or reporting obligations
- To maintain the security and integrity of the App
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: cloud hosting and storage providers who help us operate the App, bound by confidentiality obligations
- Legal requirements: where required by law, court order, or government/regulatory request
- With your consent: for any other purpose you explicitly agree to
If Tara uses any specific third-party services (e.g. a particular cloud storage provider, analytics tool, or payment gateway), list them here by name before publishing — Play Store's Data Safety form requires each data-sharing partner to be disclosed individually.
4. Data Retention
| Data type | Retention period |
| Signed MOU | Retained long-term for record-keeping and legal/compliance purposes, for as long as your account or partnership with Imaara remains active or as required by applicable law. |
| Licence and verification documents | Retained until the verification process is complete; may be deleted or archived thereafter as per our internal record-keeping practices. |
| Registration details (name, email, address, phone, GST/PAN) | Retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after account closure to meet legal/regulatory obligations. |
5. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted storage/transmission where applicable. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal/record-keeping obligations (e.g. long-term MOU retention noted above)
- Withdraw consent for processing, where consent is the basis for processing
- Raise a grievance regarding how your data is handled
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 9.
7. Children's Privacy
Tara is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
